摘要
makes low latency and reliable data transmission the main challenges. Medium Access Control (MAC) plays a critical role in addressing these challenges by regulating access to the shared wireless channel. Existing mechanisms, such as Adaptive Priority MAC for Multi-Event Wireless Sensor Networks (APMME), determine the channel access probability p according to traffic priority and the number of concurrently transmitting nodes. However, APMME does not explicitly consider variations in network traffic load, which limits its flexibility in adapting channel access to changing network conditions. To address this limitation, this paper proposes TA APMME, a traffic-aware enhancement of APMME that introduces a scaling parameter a to adjust the channel access probability according to network conditions. The proposed mechanism enables more flexible control of channel access under different traffic levels, where a high number of simultaneously active nodes results in greater channel utilization, while a low traffic load may otherwise leave available bandwidth underutilized. The performance of TA APMME has been evaluated under different network conditions by varying the number of nodes and the number of retransmission attempts. Simulation results show that increasing a from 1 to 2 reduces packet delay by 2.8%–8.3% while maintaining a successful packet delivery ratio above 98%. These results demonstrate that TA-APMME provides an additional mechanism for controlling the trade-off between transmission delay and packet delivery reliability under different traffic conditions without significantly affecting energy consumption.
